ABOUT

I hold dual APA Titles, as both a Sports & Exercise Physiotherapist and a Research Physiotherapist, a combination held by relatively few physiotherapists. What defines my practice is that the care I provide is directly underpinned by my own published research.

I completed my PhD at La Trobe University investigating the conservative management of non-reducible discogenic low back pain, as part of the internationally recognised STOPS (Specific Treatment of Problems of the Spine) research programme. I’m first author of a randomised controlled trial and an international Delphi consensus study on non-reducible discogenic low back pain, contributing to a body of work now cited in international systematic reviews. I also hold a Master of Physiotherapy (Sports) from the University of Queensland. This means that when you see me for a complex or persistent problem, you’re being treated by someone who has helped build the very evidence base that guides best practice.

With over two decades of experience, I’ve practised in Australia and Hong Kong, and since 2012 I’ve consulted at PhysioCentral in Central and Wong Chuk Hang. My primary focus is complex and persistent low back pain, alongside sports-related spinal injuries. I’ve provided physiotherapy to elite athletes and performers, including the Hong Kong Sports Institute, the Hong Kong Rugby Sevens, Hong Kong’s national tennis teams at the Davis Cup and Fed Cup, and the Hong Kong Ballet. I have also led multidisciplinary pain management programmes for complex back, neck, and shoulder conditions.

I’m also committed to advancing the profession, through mentoring the next generation of physiotherapists, supervising clinical placements and research projects, and peer-reviewing for journals and the World Physiotherapy Congress.

Whether you’re an athlete working to return to sport, someone seeking lasting relief from back pain, or a colleague interested in collaboration, I’d welcome the chance to connect.
